You can take a ferry to France and drive through France, Spain and then across Portugal, a lot of driving but if time is not a problem an enjoyable way of seeing Europe.
A full day/overnight ferry from Portsmouth to Santander or Bilbao, then almost a days drive or better still a stop over for one night. If travelling by these ferries and especially if you are bringing a dog with you please be sure to book well in advance as dog accommodation goes very quickly and remember to book a dog friendly hotel if planning to stop on route. Depending on your chosen driving route, I found Salamanca in Spain to be a good restbite with our dog.
Fly to Faro we are approximately 40 minutes away.
Fly to Lisbon approximately 2 hours.
Fly to Seville approximately 2 hours.
